About Us<\/h1>\n

At Birds Connect Seattle, we believe that when we protect birds, we create a healthier, more vibrant city for everyone.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1916, Birds Connect Seattle<\/strong>\u2014formerly the Seattle Audubon Society<\/strong>\u2014is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the first conservation organization established in Washington State.<\/p>\n

We focus on urban conservation and are committed to an antiracist, inclusive approach to protecting birds and the natural spaces we share.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With more than 4,000 members and 500 dedicated volunteers, Birds Connect Seattle is one of the largest independent organizations in the Audubon network. Together, we offer a wide range of environmental education programs, field trips and neighborhood bird outings, community science projects, and public outreach initiatives that inspire people of all ages to learn about and protect birds.<\/p>\n

Our urban conservation work is anchored by the Bird-Safe Seattle initiative, which focuses on protecting and expanding the region\u2019s tree canopy, preventing bird-window and building collisions, and reducing the use of harmful pesticides.<\/p>\n
